Went by subway, last stop, enrolled in painting classes and drawing droopy stuffed faces on rooftops, upstairs with beautiful souls, standing alone, pretending to walk, pretending to carefully carry mice in talons, mad rodent spirits in tweed jackets, I’ve been away too long, knocking on doors and waiting for rescue, eternally entering and returning, broken hearted and staring, advancing without need for breath, without breathing, silent protesting from thrift store counters, dressing in cotton and fake fake fur, betrayed by my brothers lost in revolution, furry and wide-eyed, your honesty, your too-long trip to Mexico, like a mad bird staring at the moon
