Stuffed Artist’s Statement:
Stuffed animals are often sleep companions of their living companions. Though most of us relish this role, it has often been stressful for me. I have struggled with severe bouts of insomnia for many years. And because I cannot close my eyes, it’s hard for my living companions to know when I’m having trouble sleeping- so I rarely get the comfort and support I need. I became an artist over the course of years of sleepless nights- thinking about and planning and working on pieces in my head. My art is about the night: the things that happen when living companions are asleep…
